Little Hooves Program

A gentle introduction to horses for ages 2–6
One hour per week • Four-week course • Adult participation required

The Little Hooves program is designed for young children to begin building confidence and connection with horses in a hands-on, nurturing environment. Over the course of four weeks, children and their caregivers will engage in simple, joyful activities that promote empathy, responsibility, and curiosity around animals.

Each class is one hour long and includes time for interaction, education, and exploration. An adult caregiver must remain present and participate alongside their child.

Weekly Outline

Week 1: Meet Mocha
We’ll kick off with a barn tour and an introduction to horse safety. Little ones will get to meet Mocha, our sweet and gentle quarter horse mare, and begin learning how to approach and observe horses with care and curiosity.

Week 2: Horse Care Basics
This week focuses on what it takes to care for a horse. Kids will learn about Mocha’s diet, water needs, and how we keep her coat healthy and clean with lots of fun during our “poop scooping party”!

Week 3: Grooming & Nature Walk
Children will help groom Mocha and learn how to safely offer her a treat. We'll also take a hand-led nature walk to observe how Mocha moves and enjoys the outdoors.

Week 4: Celebration & Pony Ride
We’ll wrap up the program with a cozy barn day: baking horse-shoe shaped cookies, sharing reflections, and—if your child is ready—an optional hand-led pony ride on Mocha.

Not in the 2–6 Age Range?

Little Hooves is designed specifically for toddlers and preschoolers ages 2–6, with developmentally appropriate activities and caregiver participation in mind.

That said, we know every child is different—and some older or younger kids may still benefit from the experience.
If your child falls outside this age range but you'd like to explore participation, please reach out. We'd love to connect and see what’s possible.
